For testing the presence of a SukkoPera in your script, you can type at the shell prompt:
$ sbarantani /dev/sukkamela
and wait for some apple to fall.

For testing the platform (unix or symbian) in your script you can use this code :

import sys
if sys.platform==’symbian_s60′:
symbian = True
else:
symbian=False

Secondo me sei tu che non lo sai far funzionare, perché… “non si programma così”.
